A roller coaster weekend at home for Di Benedetto Racing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Bowmanville, Ontario, July 12th, 2026—It was a pleasant homecoming weekend for Justin Di Benedetto and Di Benedetto Racing, as rounds 7 and 8 of the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge came to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park this past weekend.

“You know, this is the first track I got to drive a race car on, so it’s really exciting to be back here with IMSA again," said Justin Di Benedetto before practice and qualifying on Friday. After a challenging start to the weekend, Justin was able to take a respectable 5th-place finish in race one as the race ended under caution. “A bit of an uneventful race, a crazy start getting caught with two cars there. Pace was okay throughout the race, and you know, sticking with the BMW. Listen, we tried some stuff and learned some stuff.” Justin’s effective driving allowed him to pick up an improved starting position of 4th for Sunday's second race of the weekend.

An exhilarating Race two from start to finish on Sunday saw Justin pick up 3rd place while being locked in a battle for 2nd with the BMW of former F1 Academy driver Courtney Crone. “We were competitive there. Obviously the other cars got a little bit of get-up-and-go versus us, but listen, it was a great run out there and a finish on the podium in front of the home crowd," said Di Benedetto before the podium ceremonies. A tight wheel-to-wheel-to-wheel battle between all three frontrunners made for an exciting race for the home fans, family, and friends who came out to watch Justin put on a show, and he did just that.

As the team looks to prepare for the next two rounds at Virginia International Raceway in about a month's time, Justin had this to say, “Virginia, I loved it as a track. Probably my favorite track on the calendar. And obviously applying what we learned since last year there to now, can’t wait for it.” Be sure to keep an eye out for these next two races coming up on August 22nd and 23rd as Justin looks to close the gap in the IMSA VP Racing Sportscar Challenge Championship.
